The Adorable Kermit

Kermit, a feral kitten, about eight weeks old when we found her, suffered from a neurological abnormality which prevented the kitten from bringing its rear legs to the center of the body. She could not stand and when she moved, she had to drag her back legs along behind her on the ground. Kermit was named at the Clinic, as are all stray animals, whose progress is carefully followed by all of the staff. Kermit's back legs were tape-braced for about five weeks, during which time she was caged, treated with physical therapy, and had very limited exercise. It was a happy day when I heard an excited shout, "Kermit can stand!" from a technician in the treatment area. Kermit's new owners have continued physical therapy and report that Kermit can run up and down the stairs at her new happy home. She also enjoys playing with her new feline friend, Bugsy (although Bugsy hasn't quite warmed up to the idea of a new kitten in the house!)
