Adoption - The Best Option
If you are considering acquiring a pet, consider adopting. Both cats and dogs are available for adoption at your local Animal Shelter. Many rescue groups exist for specific breeds, mainly dogs. Most pet adoption centers usually charge a small fee for adoption and for the spaying or neutering of the animal, if needed.
A disturbing number of animals are abandoned at the animal shelters. These are usually animals that have spent their years in a home and are perfect candidates for adoption.
We are receiving an over abundance of cats and dogs each month from the Camarillo and other local animal shelters and are taking steps to adopt them out to loving homes. By working with the shelter, we are hoping to further reduce the number of animals euthanized each year. All of the kittens we find from feral mother cats are kept at foster homes until we can find them a home. In this period, they are socialized by regular handling and care until they become family friendly. We only adopt cats to homes that will keep them indoors because outdoor cats face coyotes, dogs, cars, cat fights, diseases and parasites - not a happy, safe life.
Please consider adopting before you buy your next pet. So many animals need homes and together we can decrease the numbers of pets euthanized every year in shelters.
